About Armitage...

My name is Ellen Ball, and Armitage is my dream.  As a child, one could find me playing with all the animals on our family farm.  Since I can remember, I was the one who had the unique ability to convince all the strays that they had found their new home.  From my very first beagle-mix, I proved time and time again that I was a genuine dog lover.  No matter what the breed, you were guaranteed if I had my choice, I would have several of each.  I distinctly remember my mother's words, "When you grow up, have a job, and your own place, you can have as many dogs as you want."  Now that I am all grown up, have a job, and my own place, I realize life's limitations.

Growing up I was an active member of 4-H.  4-H was critical in my personal development and education.  It taught me about responsibility and citizenship. In 4-H, I started out in a horse club, and then graduated to a broader club that offered dog projects as well as big and small livestock.  I participated in obedience and later grooming and showmanship.  During my later years in 4-H I successfully competed at local and state levels in grooming and showmanship.

In the late 80's I started raising and showing Collies.  However, it wasn't until I was on my own in the early 90's when I began being competitive in the breed.  In the mid-to-late 90's I successfully bred over 15 champion Collies, some of which were CCA National Specialty Winners.

Following the death of a very close friend in 1999, I stepped back from the dog show world to re-evaluate my own life and where I was going.  It wasn't until 2002, a new friend encouraged me to co-own a Sheltie with her.  We went to visit Barbara Thompson of Barwood Shelties, and the rest is history.

In 2002, we acquired our first two Shelties from Barwood Shelties.  Since that time, we have finished numerous champions and ASSA National Specialty Class Winners.

2008 was the year I chose to go back to college to complete my degree.  For 25 years I have dedicated my life to showing dogs and traveling weekend after weekend in quest of that next major win.

Now in 2010, I am nearing the completion of my E-Business & Web Design degree and I am looking forward my first semester at Franklin University as a I double-major in Website Development & E-Marketing.  During my last quarter at Hocking College, I am taking 30 credit hours.  I anticipate future quarters and semesters to carry a minimum of 20 credit hours as I anxiously working toward my Bachelor degrees in Website Development and E-Marketing.

I am currently a school bus driver (for the excellent health benefits) and work for I-B2B LLC as a website design coordinator.  If any of my dog friends needs websites, or personalized emails with your kennel name, or online data backup, or even a online photo gallery of your Sheltie kids, let me know.  I offer affordable websites and services.  You can have your very own one page website for $100!  Show off your latest win - introduce litters of puppies or perhaps your stud dog, or simply show off your Sheltie family.

We can do hosting for that one page website on our server for $10/month.  And you can update that website yourself easily with no software to buy OR I can do it for you.
